"In a time when luxury and fashion are at the very epicenter of cosmopolitan culture, I find inspiration in the daily discoveries of life. In each of my creations, vibrant colors and luscious fabrics are the form and function that bring new light to the possibilities of every man's unique style."
- Joseph Kadi, Creator and Designer of Joseph's Cloak
Born in New York City and raised in France, Belgium and New York, fashion designer Joseph Kadi found inspiration in the European backdrop that defined his childhood. It was that very backdrop that eventually guided him through his artistic journey.
Joseph Kadi's first creative destination began in painting. His abstract oil paintings drew national attention, resulting in invitations from the Bazel in Florida and from Lincoln Center in New York City to exhibit his art.
While a blank canvas challenged Joseph to express his talents and inner visions, the young artist felt the urge to find an entirely new medium. It was at that time he turned his long-lasting passion for fashion and the arts into a career. He enrolled in the Fashion Institute of Technology where he was provided with the knowledge and skills to propel his talent through a new artistic realm: fashion.
At 26-years-old, Kadi began designing private label menswear apparel, working with major specialty and department stores throughout the country. During his early retail years, Kadi frequently visited some of the finest mills in Europe to get acquainted with the world's most luxurious fabrics. It was then that he was struck with a vision of luxurious men's tailored shirts, made of rich textures and extravagant fabrics.
Joseph Kadi launched Joseph's Cloak in 1998, a collection of exquisite hand-tailored men's shirts, boasting distinct silhouettes, prominent cuffs and bold collars. Since the inception of the label, the luxurious tailored shirts have gained an impressive celebrity following, including such luminaries as Jay-Z, Damon Dash, Jaime Foxx, Jerome Bettis, Dwight Howard, David Letterman and George Lopez, among others.
Joseph's Cloak Collections can be purchased in key national specialty stores such as Atrium (New York), Beau Brummel (New York), BNZ Clothiers (California), Carrier Fine Menswear (California), Don Vincent (California), Charles Spiegel (Pennsylvania), Christopher Jude (Florida), Davis for Men (Illinois), D. Grant Ltd. (Utah), Dolce Moda (Michigan), Albert's Prospect (Ohio), Elton's at Mandalay Bay (Nevada), Halberstadt's (South Dakota) and Harold's (Texas).
As Joseph evolved from painter to designer, he balanced his childhood influences with his contemporary surroundings, producing today's most exquisite men's tailored shirts.
